City Streets to Nature's Trail

I've always wanted to go to Runyon Canyon ever since I first came to Los Angeles. I'm thankful that I've been there twice without having the complications of riding a bus. Thank goodness for carpools, but then again finding parking can be very difficult, so getting dropped of or taking a bus could be a better option if you don't want to deal that problem.

Getting up in the early AM was hard since I lacked some sleep, but it was worth it.

Going to Runyon for a hike made me get in touch with nature since I'm always stuck in the city. I needed a change of scenery since all I see is buildings after buildings, concrete after concrete. Sure there's some trees here and there, but still I feel so trapped here in DTLA. So it was nice being able to breathe "fresh" air and just enjoy the view of Los Angeles from the top and not within.

Some tips if ever going to Runyon Canyon.
  1. Pack light. Pack the essentials;Water, a small snack, keys, a light jacket if your chilly (not bulky, unless the weather looks bad) and maybe a camera if your into taking pictures. ( I brought a big bag the first time and half the things were not necessary. Plus I didn't like the bulky-ness of having a backpack.)
  2. Watch where your stepping. Majority of the people like to bring their dogs to company them, therefore you might encounter some dog shit.
  3. Wear comfortable shoes, especially with grip because you could slide. (I didn't have legit shoes and I managed, but just be safe... its a long way down if shit happens. lol)
  4. There will be stair like structures, and majority of them are pretty lengthy, so for a tall person its no problem, but for the shorter average, I suggest you walk on the sides and skip the stairs... or if your a beast then do the stairs... IT IS A WORK OUT. seriously.
  5. Make sure you take a break from walking and you'll pretty much know where to stop and take a breather.. and if your a camera whore, you'll know because of the cool scenery as well as the Hollywood sign.

& Here are some pictures of today's journey.

Runyon Gate: 1860 N Fuller Ave, Los Angeles, California

That's where I live. DTLA from afar.

Here's my friend Heather... & her back view (:
The contrast of city & nature... I love how different 2 places can be.
Accompanied by wildflowers along the trial. It makes the hike more appealing.

There's the "Hollywood" sign everyone, well tourists are obsessed about.

One of the stops to take a breather, to talk, to rest, and enjoy the view... Also there is a huge wooden chair there, which I was sitting in... Its.so.comfortable!

Picture taken on my first Runyon Hike, but here is the big chair that I was talking about.
